You know how I don't have emotions? Well, in dreams, I have just STUFF happen to me, and I'm not weepy, really- (I only ever cry when stuff happens to dad, in my dreams... I have like... a list of ways he's died/tranformed into something that's trying to kill me/ect, in them)

Last night, I... I don't remember exactly what happened in words, but the left over feeling says it's full of stuff that couldn't have happened in real life. Kind of the same feeling as floating through water like it's antigravity with lots of wind, while not holding your breath. I guess. I experienced EVERYTHING with this gorgeous middle-eastern girl and misc. creature... thing. We were at some sort of camp thing, so she'd had to leave, and I remember just BAWLING and hugging her before she left, and I have this looming feeling she played therapist for me a LOT.

Well, Bri'll be home on Sunday, so don't expect me to be online much for the next few days, haha. She'll DOMINATE me.

Second of all, a kind of weird rant.

About my love of hot drinks.

Hot drinks and sweets are my favourite combination in the world, to the point where I can't have sweets (unless it's icecream/gelato/sherbert/ect, obviously) without them. I have tea with cake, coffee (or Earl Grey) with fine chocolates, and so on. Weirdly enough, for a really long time, I only liked coffee.

...See, it's always been my belief that tea was for fruity/vanilla deserts, and coffee was for chocolatey ones.
Then I met Earl Grey. She was the most wonderful tea I'd ever met- but I had no idea at the time, because she was, well, a bit low class, and I thought her Bergamont taste just wasn't for me.
I met her later, dressed up in her finest, and tried a sip. Heavenly.
It could just as easily be my Ciel muse, but WOW, I never thought I'd like Earl Grey, but it's wonderful.

Out of the greens I've had so far, I liked my kyoto sakura ocha (Kyoto Cherry Rose) best. <3 om nom nom. It's incedibly floral, to the point where it has petals in it (don't petals make it a white tea? Hmn.), and I do love floral teas. Jasmine Pearl and Jasmine Green are lovely as well, but a little less... hmn, casual? They taste less like fruity flowers, that's for sure.

Also Yerba Mate. I have nothing else to say. Mmmmmm.

I love coffee, anyone who knows me knows that- maybe it's a side effect of growing up with a picky coffee drinker, who grinds his own, I dunno. But I'm every bit as selective about my coffee as I am my tea- maybe even moreso. I prefer lighter blends, hazelnut blends (Bagel and Blagel's vanilla hazelnut is lovely), and local blends (for my irl friends- the roasterie's blends are INCREDIBLE. Better than a lot of imported coffee, in fact, and it's available in Hen House ground and whole bean.)
However, the best espresso I've ever had (it was in a cafe breve- my favourite of all of the foo-foo drinks.), was imported from italy. WOW. WOW WOW. It was incredibly velevety- and may or may not have ruined cafe Breves for me forever. I'd love to shoot that espresso on it's own, I suspect it's sippable, hah.

One of my fondest dreams is for an espresso machine and a coffee maker, and I have a four-cup coffee maker chilling downstairs. Espresso Machines are so expensive thoooouugh.

Hot Chocolate. I adore peppermint hot chocolate. But, again, I'm incredibly selective. I had a taste of shavings melted in milk, and I could never drink Swiss Miss or Nestle ever again ever. Though, admittedly, I horde Lissa's stache when I'm over there, haha.

Nestle cocoa is so... it's full of fillers, and when I taste them it's just... augh.

I really can't go on forever about cocoa like everything else, but World Market is your friend.

Also Christopher Elbow chocolates are entirely organic and Elbow himself is from Kansas City. Voila~

As a parting note, Elbow and Roasterie did a collab coffee together, and I wanna try it ohsobad.

Yay, Vodka. Ignore the badness and lack of reflective lighting, if you will. Was listening to a lot of Euphoric field, needed to draw soemthing soft and wintery.
Man I miss winter. I want snow back, and NOW. T_T Strange, since I was born in June. I guess I should love the summer, but I just DON'T. I like overcast, and snow, best.

So it's 3 in the morning, I'm not tired, and I am eating spanakopitas. Mmmmm.

Well, what better time to try and convince humanity that the BB manga is HOLYSHIT better than the anime? Let us illustrate what we mean by considering a ~~forestfire~~ list.
Let's just say right now- it's not a totally mindblowingly awesome manga- but it could become one, eventually. Either way, I love it for some reason. O_o

Oh and there WILL be spoils if you plan on reading/watching, just as a warning.

1. The first episode.
Oh lawdy, the first episode. I know that they were trying to hook the audience's attention, but it ended up just feeling... well, cheap, to me. Let it just be known right now that the author doesn't even try to hint at anything demonic or even remotely out of the ordainary for at least 3 chapters of the manga- episode two is actually a rather faithful port of that chapter. In fact, one of my favourite things about the manga is that the first couple of chapters were very very lighthearted. Which is why later on, the dark parts seem... well, more dark. Ala Violinist of Hameln, if you know what I mean.
Well, just so you know, there was no busy little irish or whatever entrpenasshole in the manga, it was a cute little old guy, and... well, that's about it. The whole plot of that chapter is more of a setup- it's pretty much just endearing you to everyone before ~~making Ciel a cold-as-ice chessmaster~~ starting up the plot.
2. The Art.
Now, here's what got me about the anime at first. The art just doesn't translate to anime (and Grell's voice made me want to punch babies, even though that may have been on purpose.) The art in the manga is fan-fucking-tastic - it's a little wobbly for the first couple of chapters, but that's a typical thing, I think, and it's barely noticable if you aren't comparing it. The anime...? Well, there's lots of uncomfortable Sebastian/Ciel implications...
It's not to say they did a bad job- obviously, it wasn't the incredibly detailed, amazing animation that a Gibli film would have, or Haruhi, but it did it's job, and the character designs looked enough like the characters they were to portray. The style itself is simply not one that adapts well to animation. Oh yeah, and the Indian Prince(forgive me, I can never remeber his name)'s PURPLE HAIR was the most tasteless thing ever.
3. Plot.
Now, this makes a fair amount of sense. See, it was one of those fairly typical situations- like FMA, except not loved enough to get a do-over. they started the anime during the... Jack the Ripper case, I think. They ruined the curry tournament by playing the stupidest shit ever totally straight. And it only gets worse from there. Now, I haven't adressed the anime-only characters yet, because I hate them so much they get to come last, but the entire premise of the entire anime is just... uhg. Seriously, just watch the last ten minutes of the last episode, it's the best part of the series, and the only thing worth watching that isn't episode 9 (which goes down in my book as the gayest and most awesome filler ever.) Pretty much, the plot hits a downward spiral after like... 10? Not that I mind an anime embracing rage and the desire for revenge, it's a breath of fresh air. The problem is how cliche it gets. And how damn creepy the queen and the angels are. I may as well summarize it in here, but the Angels started a cult to wipe out the 'unclean'. This includes the Phantomhives, for plenty of reasons, but the entire damn series there are implications that Ciel was pretty much gang raped right before he summoned Sebastion- in both- so he gets very very touchy about the whole ordeal. They try to wipe Ciel's bad memories, but he clings to them, claiming he just wouildn't be himself without his hate. He discovers the Queen, and Angels were the ones who killed his parents (funny, they never specified what his goal was, ever...) Ciel hesitates, and Sebastian goes "WELL POO-POO ON YOU YOU'RE NOT A TASTY SOUL ANYMORE. ):" and goes away, leaving Ciel to pretty much be pathetic, and all Sebastian muses to go "aww, look how cute he is when the universe hates him..." Eventually the angels decide to use the (anime only) 'Demon dog' to burn down London, and the queen dies- because her husband is grafted to her, and he's rotting (ewwwww). Now- Ciel is framed for her death (in a very spur-of-the-moment fashion) and he does what is probably the coolest idea the writers had themselves, and, when shot, bleeds the mother-fucking pentagram/circle in his eye. Sebastian shows up and kicks everyone's ass, then takes dead Ciel to a bench and eats him. and, uh, it's heavily impled that he kisses him. And says 'And then, Young Master..." Which leaves it open for the fangirls to debate whether he ate Ciel, or took him to hell to have crazy buttsex forever with him.
I was, uh, left unimpressed. :/ I was the one screaming at my computer all the way through Code Geass, hooting and cheering at Baccano, and wibbling at AIR and Bokurano.
Even though I had previous love for the characters, they just... weren't potrayed well. Speaking of.
4. Ciel and Sabastian.
Were out of freaking character the entire series, even if it was adorable (like Ciel's little 'woof'. Dawwhaw.) Sebastian was too "nice. Especially considering how damn hungry the poor hellspawn is. Not so much he was too nice, now that I think about it- but he was too easy to figure out. He makes no damn sense in the manga- and that's what I love about him. I'm constanly screaming "WHAT I DON'T GET IT WHAT HUH WHY WOULD YOU AND THEN AAAUUUUGH" at him in the manga, and it's fun. It gives me a something too look forward to, as far as development goes. He's got that bottom layer shaved off for the Anime, though, and is pretty much a typical two-layer guy, who's got the " n_n" that hides the " ಠ_ಠ " underneath.
Ciel got the same simplification treatment, and was made... pretty much utterly useless without Sebs. Don't get me wrong, he may look it, but he's not baby Big Boss. He's a bamf in the making, though. (Chapter 32 proved this to me, om nom nom. <3 WHO'S AN ANGRY BABY? YOU ARE.) Anyway. He's actually physically weaker in the Manga, and smarter. However, he's not as hesitant, or as... well, ukebait. I mean. ...He's ukebait no matter what, due to his shotaness, but.
They did better with Ciel, though.
5. Anime only characters.
ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRASHAJSKHAJRAGGARFFT. D<
Demon dog, first of all, I don't need to say much else, except I do, because of the random naked MAN running around ruining anything that could be even considered decent.
That. Dog. Pissed. Me. The. Hell. Off.
He was in bad taste, for one thing. Something that the damn main characters would detest having anywhere near them. He was a plot device though, so what can you do?
The angels were nearly as bad, but I didn't want to repeatedly punch the writers in the face for them. See, in the manga, so far, it's fairly episodic, but revealing more and more character and past as they go. The anime, apparently, was limited, so they needed to finish things chop-chop. And how do you finish things like that? You need an antagonist! Antagonists ALWAYS have to be in VERY STARK difference from the protagonists, right? Even though this series is meant to explore grey without being preachy at the audience. Well, the main character is a demon, so let's make the evil guys angels. That's grey, right, guys? (Psst, no it isn't.) Despite being the (co, I s'pose.)creator of an Angels BADDD, Demons SLIGHTLY LESS BAAAD universe, myself, that's just unforgivably plain of the writers.
